"GEORGIA GHOST SOCIETY"
UNITED STATES : MACON, GA Undoubtedly, everyone at some time or another has heard a ghost story or two. While many people already admit believing in the existence of the paranormal, there are those who won't believe in these often frightening and unearthly occurrences. But what about those who have already had the misfortune to have experienced such strange, unexplained phenomena?
A haunting can manifest in a multitude of ways that can amaze or assault the human senses in ways never imagined. Unusual sensations of being watched, the sounds of scratching from behind a wall or being touched by unseen hands. Phantom footsteps, disembodied whispers and voices that sing or perhaps even call you by name. Visible manifestations of moving lights, shadows and spectral apparitions that can appear and disappear in the blink of an eye. The sweet smell of flowers or perfume to foul, sickening odors that begin and end with no explanation. |
People who live with such phenomena have absolutely no doubt that the paranormal is real. Ghosts, Hauntings, Poltergeist Activity, do they actually exist? Ask someone who has survived such an ordeal, their story may be enough to convince you.....
One thing is certain... once you have experienced a haunting first hand, your life will never be quite the same.
The Georgia Ghost Society is dedicated to conducting authentic ghost research, the investigation of phenomena associated with hauntings and offering assistance to those experiencing these incredible and sometimes frightening events. Unlike many of the paranormal teams you've seen on television, we are NOT debunkers. We are investigators using the principles of parapsychology, the scientific study of interactions between living organisms and their external environment that seem to transcend the known physical laws of nature as well as the study of apparent paranormal phenomena. The "paranormal" (beside or beyond the normal) refers to unusual experiences that do not seem to be explainable in terms of our everyday understanding or known scientific principles. Experience has shown that there can be natural explanations for these phenomena as well as paranormal ones. These can include infra-sound, elevated EMF levels, Peltier effect, mold or even elevated carbon-monoxide levels.
While many of our investigations have encompassed private residences and businesses, we have been very fortunate to include some of Georgia’s most haunted and historical landmarks to our list of investigation sites. The Thomas A. Berry House in Dalton, the Green Manor Restaurant in Union City, the Gaither Plantation in Covington, the Kennesaw House in Marietta, Brenau University's Pearce Auditorium in Gainesville, Anthony's Restaurant in Atlanta, Ye Old Public House in Roswell, the Rylander Theater and Guerry Mitchell House in Americus and the Moon River Brewery and Pirates House Restaurant in Savannah to name a few and our list continues to grow! We thoroughly understand the importance and value of these locations and work diligently in promoting not only their place in the Georgia’s history, but the history of their haunting as well.
We do not advocate or endorse the use of occult methods such as Ouija boards, Tarot cards or Séances, we choose to use techniques that will aid in the documentation of the phenomena using a variety of electronic and scientific equipment. The types of equipment used are not actually "ghost detectors" but tools that aide in measuring and recording environmental changes which can help to substantiate whether or not the activity experienced is paranormal or natural in origin. Once that determination is made, we can aide in locating, obtaining and providing the most appropriate assistance for those involved.
